A Tale of Two Cats: Collaboration with CARNABY FAIR X GOODS OF DESIRE

Art

Back in November I collaborated with CARNABY FAIR X GOODS OF DESIRE in Hong Kong, painting 2 ceramic versions of the iconic Angry Cat designed by Lao Ganbu. I was given free-range to paint the cats in whatever way I wished and I decided to create colourful designs using acrylic gouache and acrylic paint. It was a great opportunity to create a design directly into a tridimensional object and to chose colours that would give each cat a unique feeling.

The designs of both cats was inspired by gardens and feature flowers and insects all around their bodies, the kinds of flowers depicted on each cat are quite different and it helps to give them both distinct personalities. To celebrate the upcoming Year of the Rabbit I also painted rabbits hidden in the floral designs.

LAI CHI CAT

Lai Chi is cheeky and adventurous. A curious explorer with bugs, strawberries and flowers decorating its body. This cat is ready to have some fun. You can see the all details I painted on it here https://www.youtube.com/shorts/A3Qgq4tObLc
